Mailboxes

A mailbox is a real email address that can send and receive messages.

Addressing

Every mailbox has a full address formed from the local part and domain:

  • Platform subdomain: [email protected] — available on all plans. The slug is your account identifier, chosen at signup.
  • Custom domain: [email protected] — requires a verified domain on the paid plan. See Domains.

Status lifecycle

A mailbox can be in one of three states:

  • ACTIVE — Can send and receive email. Default state on creation.
  • PAUSED — Cannot send email. Inbound email is still received and stored. You can pause a mailbox via PATCH /v1/mailboxes/:id.
  • SUSPENDED — Set by the system (e.g. billing issues). Cannot send or receive email. Contact support to resolve.

Plan limits

Free accounts are limited to 1 mailbox with 50 sends per day. Paid accounts get unlimited mailboxes with 2,000 sends per day per mailbox. The daily send counter resets at midnight UTC.

See Limits & Quotas for full plan details.
